The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) just released a new Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certificate Course. Through a partnership with the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), the class offers respiratory therapists the opportunity to earn a specialized certificate in Pulmonary Rehabilitation. They will also increase their value as a respiratory therapist by helping patients experience the benefits of a comprehensive pulmonary rehab program.
“This course is a great opportunity for individuals who have been working in pulmonary rehab for some time and for those who are considering joining the pulmonary rehabilitation team,” said Dr. Shawna Strickland, PhD, RRT, FAARC, AARC associate executive director of member services. “The content was developed by leaders in the field and aligns with the AACVPR best practices.”
Pulmonary rehabilitation is an important aspect of managing chronic pulmonary disease. It can help improve quality of life, increase exercise capacity, improve symptoms of shortness of breath, and help manage anxiety and depression for persons with chronic respiratory diseases. A vital part of a successful pulmonary rehabilitation program is the skill and knowledge of its healthcare providers.
This program, developed jointly by the AARC and AACVPR, provides pulmonary rehabilitation specialists the knowledge necessary to be an effective member of the pulmonary rehabilitation team.
Successful completion of the course can earn attendees 12 hours of Continuing Respiratory Care Education. Cost for the course is $230 for AARC members and $280 non-members.
